Tangerine Picking For The First Time In Jeju Island

So, I know that I wrote about tangerine cafes in Jeju Island, but the tangerines are just as if not more amazing! I love eating them so much there that tangerines from anywhere else all taste the same. The sweetness level is just 100+!!

Jeju Island was filled with tangerine trees, I wondered why the tangerines from Jeju are so different. Even when I first arrived to Jeju Island for the first time ever, I got greeted with a hallabong at the airport, which is a bit bigger than a tangerine but smaller than an orange. It is a symbol fruit of Jeju, and you must try those too! They were so tasty.

It was nice that they tasted as good as the tangerines but was a bigger version of those tangerines. When we went tangerine picking, it was in an area that was kind of hidden. The front tangerine trees had the entrance sign on it, and then we had to make the taxi guy drive us a bit further up the hill. There were so many trees and we could pick as many tangerines for around $8 USD a person. We got a 8$ discount because we didn't need that many tangerines but the guy was nice enough to give us the discount, and let us pick more anyway.

Yura's ice dance partner told us that when he lived in Florida, he learned that if the oranges are ripe, they will droop down and will be at the bottom of the orange tree, whereas the ones that are not will be at the top of the tree. The ones that are ripe are the ones that are hanging over low to the ground from the branch. That was very cool to learn. I wonder what they do with all the ripe tangerines though? Will they throw them away if they do not sell all of them?

We collected so many tangerines, and had a good experience with the family. I loved picking my own tangerines and eating such succulent sweet fruits afterwards. We picked so many that we brought them back to Seoul and gave some away to Yura's skate coaches. They had a huge smile on their faces. I ate so many tangerines I got so full from them, and will be always remembering those Jeju tangerines until I go back next time.
