Quarantine Day 17: New Addition To Our Family

IMG_2390_edited.jpg

We got a new parrot!!! So how this happened was that my boyfriend's company Minsley is a rice company in San Bernardino. It is an essential company and the business is booming right now because people are hoarding rice. It is nice to hear that because his company wasn't doing that well before the Covid 19 pandemic started spreading in USA and were letting people go. Now, after a lot of people started buying loads and loads of rice suddenly from Costco and Walmart, their rice started selling out. They had to hire a lot of new people and even got a staffing agency to help them hire the right people for the factory. The first day that their business started booming was when they got like 50 something orders in one day. They usually complete one order in one day and this was way more than expected! They made so much profit and they are staying open so I am glad to hear that amidst all this unemployment and craziness.

Anyhow, he told me he found a random parrot in a bush next to their company and they were feeding him french fries, bread, and rice for three days. The parrot was flying a little bit but not really, and wanted attention from them and let them pet him. So I said to catch it because it looks so nice and they are very smart and valuable. I did not think he would really catch a parrot. Then the day that he was coming over to my house, he actually said he caught the parrot! I guess he lured him in a box with food, and it was so cool! We all waited for the parrot to arrive and when he did, we saw that he was not too friendly. He stepped up on my sister's arm, but then bit her so hard she got a hole in her hand. Then it started talking and saying "echo" and "pickle" in a man's voice. He starts laughing or saying woo hoo and when he flies. Sometimes forklift backing up noises. It was cool having a parrot for the first time because even though we had like 20 birds growing up, none of them mimicked us or talked. The parrot was very huge and he keeps biting us. He didn't like being in the cage at all with the door closed, and he eats like all day. He loves clementines, peanuts, and shiny things. He likes watching videos of other African Greys which make us think maybe he grew up in a zoo. He also wants head scratches so he puts his head to the side so you can pet him, and then he all of a sudden attacks your fingers by biting. What an evil bird! He also started flinging all of our coins and shiny objects on the ground, and he was being a poobird. He also makes a huge mess on the ground because he likes staying in one spot that is like a perch.

I am happy though that he found his way to us, because my mom loves him. My mom plays with him and even put him in her room even though she has bad allergies. She put him right in front of her television which blocks half her TV, which means she loves the bird because she won't let anyone mess with her TV. We can hear her conversating with the bird and sometimes scream from him climbing on top of her head. We are all scared he will bite us so we wear gloves. When searching on google, it said that African Greys do not like cuddles and are naturally not too friendly, unlike other handfed birds. I like visiting my mom's room because I want to hear the parrot talk. I don't know what to name him. I like Cloud or Corona. I put a craigslist ad up that we found a bird but didn't hear anything back yet. There was one person looking for the same type of bird she lost on May 19, but that one has an eye deformity which this one does not have. My mom said she wants to keep him and she loves him so I should put the ad down lol.

Meanwhile, my boyfriend also brought us my Switch that was at his house, and bought me Animal Crossing! I named the island Corona and my sister keeps getting stung by wasps. I was playing a little bit when he came over, but now my sister is in love with the game. She is playing my character because the fish couldn't be donated to the museum on her character, only the main character could. I have been watching her play all day while blogging. It also has been raining all day today so we had to put the huskies inside the dog park. They were trying to dig out today and my sister caught them right on time. Midnight is getting so tubby and big! I just hope that there is someone doing vaccines at the clinic because everything is closed due to the Coronavirus, and I need to give him his second Parvo shot. He is almost 12 weeks old so I really have to get them on time. Also, apparently this week is Corona Peak week so no one should go out of the house at all, even for groceries. My boyfriend is not coming over this weekend (my sis even said she is sad because it is a little less boring with him in the house) and now it is just us four. I am thankful he brought us the bird and the switch. Thanks Babe!
