This film really gave me nightmares. When I was watching this film it was scary and chilling, but when I thought back about this movie it was horrifying. The way the story unfolds is just so unbelievable and when watching the film, it is just about some unfortunate events because of one major mistake made by the husband, but it was just so sad and scary for me.

It reminds you of a book you read in high school, something like "Of Mice And Men" just because of the setting and how they talk. The man doesn't possess any land, but the wife has a huge 100 acre farm and a good house they live in. She has a son and it seems like the family is normal. When she says that she is going to divorce the husband and gonna take the money from selling the farm to set up a dress shop, she makes the husband mad obviously. It seems that she is not very smart because this abrupt decision makes this husband mad and hate her. He wants to stay as a family on that farm but because she doesn't, he decides to kill her. This is a very big mistake by the husband, but I feel that if they talked it out before in a better way, it could have been avoided. It seems so bizarre that the husband wanted to kill her, but he must have been a psycho either way to kill his own wife.

Random happenings happen after he actually persuades his own son to kill his wife/mother, such as the rats. The rats scared me so much because they were first there when the wife's neck was slashed and the rats were crawling inside her face, when they threw her body so nonchalantly down the well.

The way that she was looking back at the husband as if she had so much hatred towards him in her afterlife, and was going to take vengeance on him was so scary to me even starting from this scene. The mere thought that you will go through these lengths to kill your own wife, after plotting this whole scheme with your son over a piece of land was so terrifying to me. Stephen King seriously scares me every time.

The way that the son runs off with the girlfriend reminded me of "Bonnie And Clyde," which makes me think that it was kind of a homage to "Bonnie And Clyde." It was way too similar to the car that they rode in, and the way that they robbed all those banks. The way they died was pretty similar also. It was just sad that this could all have been avoided if the husband thought more about the situation not been blinded by his rage/hatred/greed.

I felt like he did deserve every bit of bad fate that came back to bite him in the ass, but I don't know why it was so psychologically terrifying to me. I have to say that even though he killed his wife, I felt kind of bad for him towards the end because his mistakes come back to haunt him. I felt bad for him and his cows. He even lost a whole hand from frostbite, and couldn't drive himself to the hospital. His house broke apart and he had no roof to cover him from the cold harsh winter. I really recommend this film for quarantine, but also do not recommend it because you may go insane. I recommend it because it is one hell of a good horror film, but not recommend watching it alone because you may actually get more depressed from quarantine. **I give this film 9/10**
